You weren't really seriously considering one of these, were you Chris? I'm thinking these don't make the OBRC cut.

Wow, $1000. What I want to know is where did he find a new motor?

Oooooooooooooooo...
It actually looks reasonably sharp - even with the in-grill aux. lights! Someone please buy this! The fact is, any motor greater than 1400cc is for decadant capitalists...
And remember, if you own it, you can do this.....!

No room for a full size spare in the trunk? No problem. Just make the engine 1/2 normal size then make the tires one half normal size and cram both under the hood!

parts nightmare?
i wonder if lordco/crappy tire would stock even one single part for that car.

JUNK!
I think in order to avoid this kind of responses, perhaps an OBRC sub forum should be created.

In case someone can't figure out the OBRC part of the subject line? Come on.
This is mostly just Chris and I finding weird stuff for entertainment and to see if we can get each other divorced. I'd like to think it isn't so off-base that it needs to be walled off from the sensitive BMW-only community. On the other hand, having our own private fiefdom could be just the thing the OBRC needs to spur us on to eventual world domination, where everyone drives sub 2.0 l weird euro or japanese stuff. And, you'd miss us.
I think the OBRC expects some flak, but I agree if you want to dump on these cars you should at least be creative, a la Woods' comment.
All in good fun guys :)

It's all good...but stating that the Yugo is junk is like a politician stating that he is against beating puppies...no shit!
The Yugo does get points in my book for the base model in the US being labelled as the Yugo GV...with GV meaning Great Value! At least its ballsy and frickin' means something...
They did also make some 900,000 of them, and I think there are parts out there - certainly more in North America than Skoda.
Please do realize that with each passing decade, there will be fewer and fewer car companies until there will be perhaps 3-5 left in the world with a handful of platforms, and all pretty much the same...so in an era of very competant but tediously dull cars, to the Zastava Koral, I salute you for being at least entertaining junk!

I'm the first to jump on the anti-Yugo bandwagon, but that red one actually looks pretty sharp! Yes, I said it. I would winter beat it with zero long term ownership plans, but just to say I owned one. Better get a woman in my life first though, cause taking a Yugo on the first date, pretty much seals your fate that there will be NO second date. Haha.

Unless you're packin' a foot long dong - chicks tend to overlook your wheels if you've got one of those. Trust me...

Says the guy who bought the Skoda AFTER he got married! Hooked her with an Alpina. Mm hmm. Haha
Buddy of mine had a 911 and a Ducati Monster. Last year he swapped the 911 for a Jeep Cherokee, and the Monster for a Multistrada(ugliest bike ever built). Yeah, that happened the second he put a ring on the girlfriends finger. Hahaha

..interesting.. Turns out Yugo's were mainly Fiat knock-offs... What self respecting communist party member wouldn't jump at the chance of owning car built with 40 year-old cast-off Italian tech?
Turns out, the US bombed their factory in 1999 but claimed they targeted the wrong building. I can just imagine the ex-Yugo owning bomber pilots high-fiving each other after that "mistake".

Please don't get me wrong. I have no problem with OBRC at all. In fact I am tempted to join your group in the future.
My suggestion originated from imagining myself in someone else's shoes. Someone who is a lot younger and a BMW only enthusiast.

Would my future Range Rover Classic qualify as OBRC? I mean really guys, I have a V12 e32, a 1 year only e24, and an old sport bike that even Suzuki doesn't support anymore. I'm clearly a sucker for punishment as it is, and an 88-94 RR would only cement that fact, no? Maybe they Rover can be the offical "support and rescue" vehicle.

I think our charter has a clause that allows the club executive to grant special dispensation to select vehicles that meet the spirit of the OBRC. You may have to do a run against a sub 2.0 l car to demonstrate adequate slowness.
Your previous support for Renault Fuegos also speaks well for you.

Ummmm, not to nit pick, but if you go back to the first time OBRC was mentioned, 'twas I who created the name. Actually it was OBRC of BC, but you get the idea. :)
Damn politics always involved in car clubs.

Thanks for the correction. It also appears that it should be the OddBall Racing Club of BC. We'll amend the charter, but I think OBRC will be the officially sanctioned abbreviation.
Still time to get in as the third member Al. Seniority counts when it's time to take a vote on your Range Rover's entry. Just sayin...

I owned and raced an MG, have 2 of the most oddball BMWs known to man, and will soon be the only tech willing to fix Skodas in all of BC! Haha. And yes, it was Racing, not Rally. I'm in.

Range Rover is a possibility, though to be fair, we'd have to bring it up at the next board of directors meeting.
We have displacement categories to keep things fair. There is the under 1400cc, the 1400-2000cc, and then over 2000cc.
So far, Czech cars have dominated the under 1400cc, while Japanese cars currently hold the majority of the middle weight titles. Perhaps now is a good time to join if you have a more powerful vehicle, as competition in the over 2000cc is not as fierce as the two small displacement categories, at least so far.

Perhaps 'Associate Member' status for those who are still searching for their ride?

Wait wait wait, that crappy old Datsun makes you a club member? I don't think I'd want to be a member of any club who would have me, nevermind a club that allows a Datsun 210! I thought you were still looking for your future member ride, too! :p

Yes, the 210 is a stop gap measure. But it did participate in the first official race which boosted me from associate to full membership. Look under 'quick links' then 'social groups' to find my planned real ride.

That's where I'm currently residing... though, I am eyeing up that local red Yugo... 'cause where I go, Yugo.
One past oddity:
-1977 Honda Civic Saskatchewan Outback Edition. Browny/Gold in colour with factory orange/yellow/tan pinstripe and decal-kit that displayed 'aggressive' stalks of wheat, yes...wheat, sprouting from beyond the C-pillar and criss-crossed on the hood itself. White mudflaps.

That car sounds like prime material. Too bad hardly any of those early Civics have survived.
